Home: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Age: Umm... I grew up without a cell phone and internet. Profession:  I started my career as a copywriter, now  I lead content and creative teams. Pronouns: She/Her Alma mater: MacEwan University, majored in Advertising & Public Relations. 

What are you best known for? Insightful writing, building and nurturing great teams and getting stuff done. What is your proudest accomplishment? Building a brand, a website and a content team from scratch. Latest accomplishment: Creating a high-intent ebook as part of a sales enablement strategy. In the first month, it had a 68.5% conversion rate. Leadership philosophy: Put your ego aside, empower your people and always assume positive intent.

Describe your ideal workplace. Kind people, collaborative teams, supportive leadership and a product/service I believe in.  What occupation (other than your own) do you admire? Nursing.  What natural talent have you neglected? Drawing. What is your greatest joy? My cat, Isabel.  What is your greatest fear? Driving (I’m more afraid of other drivers than actually driving). And sharks.

Personality profile:  A high-functioning introvert whose secret weapons are humour and kindness. Hobbies: Searching for mid-century modern treasures at thrift stores and garage sales, interior decorating and making things with my hands. Favourite TV show: Buffy the Vampire Slayer What’s the best advice you ever received in your career? When I resigned from a job, my boss at the time told me wisely that people remember you more for how you leave than how you started.

What is your favourite place/way to spend money? Thrifting for mid-century modern art and décor. What is at the top of your bucket list? Retiring in Madrid. What word or phrase do you use too often? “It depends...” How do you relieve stress? Listening to spa music. Go-to vacation spot: Spain  Celebrity you’d love to hang out with: David Beckham Food preferences: Mostly vegetarian but I’ll eat fresh fish. No eggs.

What was your first paying job? Suzy Shier sales associate (women’s clothing store) Favourite childhood toy or game: Anything Snoopy-related. Book you read repeatedly: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho Movie you watch repeatedly: The Truman Show What’s prominently featured on your home or office wall? An original silkscreen print of Picasso’s “The Blue Nude”. Who had the greatest influence on your life? My first creative director. Hidden talent: I’m a Reiki master and also kind of empathic.

What’s the most useful advice you've ever received? Righty tighty, lefty loosey. What modern innovation do you most appreciate? Nexus and retina scanning at the airport.
What is your favourite app? New York Times games. What is your go-to source for news and information? I kind of avoid the news... I usually find out about things via Instagram. What is your go-to source for creative inspiration? Taking a shower.

What company or organization do you most admire? Capital One. What world event has affected your life the most? The pandemic. It fascinates me how the entire world came to a standstill because of it. Plus, the opportunity to work remotely has been amazing! What personal circumstances has had the greatest influence on your life? Parents divorcing when I was a toddler and being raised by my dad. I grew up very independent and knowledgeable about power tools.

What is your big idea? I would like to see people receive a salary based on how good they are. The more kind and loving you are as a human, the more prosperity you’ll have. You could choose whatever career you want... you can bag groceries and still be wealthy! No one wants to live in poverty, so it would deter anyone from committing crimes or being not-nice-holes. What change would you like to see in the world? To quote Elvis Costello, “peace, love and understanding”. Who would you like to spend a day with, in heaven? God. I have soooo many questions...

As a kid, what did you first want to be when you grew up? A detective. Aside from family or pets, what object would you first save from your burning home? I’m not really all that attached to anything I own – I guess my phone. How would you spend your last day on earth? Snuggled up in my armchair listening to music with my cat, some goldfish crackers and a bottle of wine. What advice would you give your younger self? Most of those popular kids peaked in high school. Quit trying so hard.

Allergies: Rabbits, horses, seasonal pollens and molds, shellfish, chamomile, cherries and sometimes my cat.
What talent do you wish you had? I wish I could sing beyond a one octave range. What’s your favourite sweet treat? I love candy! Kraft caramels, SweetTarts, Sourpatch Kids and milk chocolate. I also chew a lot of peppermint gum. What makes you squeamish? Centipedes and germs.

Biggest regret: Not spending more time with my grandparents. What’s one thing you must do every day? Journal. Three words your closest friends would use to describe you: Spiritual, goofy, shopaholic. Moral compass: Listen to your heart. Personal mission: To be a good human and always try to see the light in others. Personal motto: Leave them better than you found them.
